After many years of growing Asian vegetables for export, farmers at the Nguruman irrigation scheme in Magadi division of Kajiado North district are now turning to the production of food crops to fulfil a desire to attain food security, at least at the household level. |

Macadamia nuts are closely associated with Hawaii, and for a good reason. Hawaii is the largest exporter of macadamia nuts, providing 95% of the world’s crop. However, the nut is native to Australia and comes from a tree that was originally grown for ornamental purposes. |
